Charon's Obol Ring

from $550.00

A made-to-order ring inspired by Charon’s Obol, the coin traditionally placed with the dead for the journey across the River Styx. In this form, the idea becomes something worn by the living instead, a small token of love, passage, memory, and continuation.

Each obol ring is created individually, with imagery shaped around the person, relationship, memory, or symbolism being honoured. The finished piece may hold animals, flowers, initials, dates, words, personal emblems, or other motifs that carry meaning for the wearer.

As a ring, the obol becomes something held directly against the hand, a tactile object of remembrance that can be worn, touched, and returned to throughout the day. It is intended not as a generic signet, but as a personal object of passage, carrying, and devotion.

Ring size, image request and text request details can be provided through the add-to-cart customisation form when ordering.

For ring sizing at home, you may wish to use Michael Hill’s Australian ring size guide. Professional sizing is still recommended where possible, especially for wider bands or memorial pieces intended for daily wear.

Available as: Small, medium, or large, in sterling silver, 14k yellow or white gold, or 18k yellow or white gold, with antique or high polish finish.

Each Charon’s Obol ring is made to order and unique to the client, with an expected completion time of 6–8 weeks before dispatch.
